The introduction.

I never thought of myself as a creative being. Not a theater kid, couldn’t draw more than a stick figure. Felt most at peace with animals- my best friend was an orange cat my parents let me get from the shelter. I walked out with the first cat I saw, and we were soulmates for the rest of his days. It wasn’t until this sensitive little body that oozes with passion got older and realized my creativity was my vulnerability and the depths at which I felt.

Within its malleable foundation, art is evolve or die. And that is comforting. We are all innately creative.

This is the thread I hold tight to when the distance I feel from filmmaking feels like an ever expanding crevasse. A distance that may be temporary, or is the inevitable rhythm of creativity.

I want to sit in a dark theater with total strangers, see the same film, and leave impacted in an endless wave of possibilities. Where the frame cuts to black and with a collective deep breath all of the moments that are us, the work that has been done behind the scenes, sometimes for many lifetimes before, comes to the surface of now… and there we are.

I’m an actor and filmmaker in Los Angeles. An observer may see my life as organized and responsible with freedom at my fingertips, but the constant walking of the knife’s blade that is my daily to find time to slow down and be in nature, whiplash from the pivot of time from one job to the next, intentional deep relationship building, and giving my dog the biggest life possible (one she fully demands and deserves)- this script feels more like mere fragments of a whole I have taped together again and again in a constant mental tug-o-war of choice to live a full creative life that makes very little practical sense.

Thanks for wandering with me (and Denali).
